I should really rename this feature. Anyway, here’s what we’re eating this week. . .

Monday: Taco Salad (inspired by this post about Walking Tacos)
Tuesday: Minestrone Soup with Cheese Toasts
Wednesday: Slow Cooker Asian Shredded Pork with Stir-fried veggies and Rice (BOE Candidate Forum)
Thursday: Mac and  Cheese, Roasted Broccoli and Salad (Parent-Teacher Conferences tonight)
Friday: Sausage Calzones and movie night
Saturday: leftovers
Sunday: Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti and Garlic Bread

No recipes this week since these are all wing-it style for me. Sorry.


I am getting tired of the red/gold/green color scheme in the family room and have been dreaming of a freshened palette. I have also been playing around in Photoshop. Check out my mad skills:

Yeah, they could use a little work. Anyway, I am really liking this color palette, and now I am on the hunt for (cheap) pillows. I am also thinking of painting the banged up TV cabinet when it gets warmer and recovering a couple chairs and the breakfast bar stools with something more fun than the current taupe microsuede.

Look at me getting all crafty and decorate-y. We’ll see if I actually follow though.


Things around here have been stressful. While I know it is the opposite of what I need, I have found myself skipping the gym and reaching for Fritos and cookies. Here is a better remedy: Food to Improve your Mood. I’ll try to keep this in mind. Right now I’m snacking on hummus. . . a little better than Fritos, right??

We have had a couple little sickies around here lately. They both were alternately listless and crabby over the weekend. Will has perked up, but Ben is on Day 2 of no school. Yesterday he spiked a fever of 103 and lost his voice. Things are looking up this morning, so I am REALLY hoping we’ll be back to normal tomorrow. Here’s what’s on the menu:

Monday Meatloaf, Baked Potatoes, Roasted Broccoli (I caved and made PB&J sandwiches for the kids. Apparently Ben no longer likes meatloaf or sloppy joes)
Tuesday Escarole and Sausage Soup with Bread and Salad (yes, I’m pretty sure the kids will have bread and salad for dinner, but maybe they’ll surprise me)
Wednesday Make Your Own Tostadas (because this always makes everyone happy)
Thursday Crispy Breaded Shrimp and Beans (this never happened last week)
Friday Make a Pizza Night + salad
Saturday Leftovers and a babysitter for the kiddos (we are going to the LHS Jazz Band Dinner Dance–Fancy!)
Sunday Pasta Milano with Salad and Breadsticks

By the way, that last link is a little hint to my new discovery I will share later this week!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I spent most of the day at Ben’s school, helping in the library, then with his class party. I love being around all those little people!

Sunday: Chicken Breasts with Artichoke Cream Sauce with Wild Rice and fruit

I realized I missed last week. The Blizzard of 2011 edition featured a random clear-the-pantry selection of dinners. Nothing planned and nothing post-worthy. Now with space in my cabinets and fridge, we are back on track:

Monday: Mac and Cheese (mushrooms and spinach added to Mom and Dad’s share) Meetings for both of us tonight, so dinner time will be scattered

Tuesday: Sloppy Joes and relish tray,  Candidate interview for Andy, then Cub Scouts for Ben and Andy

Wednesday: Make your own black bean tostadas–the favorite lately (and everyone’s home tonight!)

Thursday: Chicken Tetrazzini and Salad

Friday: Pizza and Movie night (I have book club)

Saturday: Minestrone Soup and Bread (play at the High School)

Sunday: Leftovers

Registration for summer baseball starts Saturday–can’t wait for those sunny days spent on the field! Meanwhile, it looks like all the slush is going to freeze the next couple days with barely two-digit temps.
